East End Shop and Dine to End Lyme Disease Saturday, June 30th Participating shops and restaurants will donate a portion of their profits on that day to The Global Lyme Alliance. We will encourage people to shop and dine at those establishments to support the cause. Lyme Disease is an epidemic on the East End, and funds are desperately needed to develop more accurate testing and to find a cure!
The Retreat's annual All Against Abuse Gala features our signature ceramic platters created by well-known artists. This year The Retreat honors Joy Behar and Robin Hommel-Tenenbaum for their combined efforts in raising awareness about The Retreat and helping to make our Shelter a more comfortable and safe place. Leslie Morgan Steiner, author and national advocate is the featured speaker. The event raises funds to support The Retreat's mission of providing safety, shelter, and support to victims of domestic abuse and break the cycle of family violence.
Gary Teich from Lees Autobody in East Islip teamed up with his local HS and created a courtesy vehicle for the Veterans of Post Four S. It is painted patriotic Red, White and Blue. There are donation stars on the vehicle, whereby a message can be written, thanking our veterans for their service. The money donated is used for the insurance required, and ANY veteran with a clean license can sign out the vehicle free of charge. The kids that did the work through their schools internship program have Autism Spectrum Disorder. The VETVAN was the leadoff vehicle in last weekends Memorial Day Parade in Islip. Gary and the crew will officially donate the vehicle to the Post Commander at the Board of Education Meeting on June 14. There is still plenty of room for more Donation Stars. They can be sent to: "Four S Post 1635 VETVAN" at PO Box 142 East Islip, New York, 11730
